New Delhi: In a major step aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination telegram ban, the Centre has temporarily restricted access to the Telegram messaging platform across India until June 22. The move comes just days before the medical entrance test is scheduled to be conducted on June 21.

According to a statement issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the restriction has been imposed under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. Authorities described the measure as a limited and time-bound action designed to curb the spread of misinformation and prevent attempts to compromise the examination process.

Action Against Suspected Leak Networks

The decision follows concerns raised by the NTA and the Ministry of Education regarding several Telegram channels that were allegedly promoting claims related to leaked question papers and examination manipulation. Some groups reportedly operated under names suggesting access to confidential exam material and guaranteed results.

Officials said such channels had the potential to mislead candidates and create unnecessary panic ahead of the examination.

NTA Launches Reporting Portal

To strengthen monitoring efforts, the NTA has introduced a dedicated online portal where students, parents, coaching institutes and members of the public can report suspicious activities linked to the examination.

The platform allows users to flag fake websites, social media profiles, messaging groups and any content claiming access to question papers or answer keys before the exam. Supporting evidence such as screenshots, links and documents can also be uploaded while submitting complaints.

Candidates Urged To Stay Alert

The testing agency reiterated that no individual or organisation has prior access to the NEET UG 2026 question paper. It advised candidates to rely solely on official announcements and verified sources for examination-related information.

The NTA has also warned aspirants against individuals demanding money in exchange for leaked papers, guaranteed scores or special access. Authorities have urged candidates to report impersonators, fraudulent offers and any misleading content immediately to help ensure a fair and transparent examination process.
