Nepal condemns Hindu persecution in Bangladesh
New Delhi: On Thursday, a large number of people, including Hindu saints, took to the streets of Janakpurdham in Nepal to protest against the atrocities being committed against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The protest, which began at the Janaki Temple complex in the ancient city of Janakpur, saw protesters chanting slogans demanding justice for Deepu Chandra Das, a Hindu youth killed in Bangladesh.
The protest march was organized by the Ramanandia Vaishnav Sangh. Mahant Ram Roshan Das, the successor of the Janaki Temple, said that a violent, unruly mob brutally murdered Dalit Hindu Deepu Chandra Das. They hanged him from a tree and set him on fire. This is heartbreaking and shakes us to our core. Today, saints and youth from Hindu groups have taken to the streets against these atrocities.
I have also warned the Nepalese government to put pressure on Bangladesh in every possible way. No one has the right to kill others. The protesters described the incident as inhumane and a crime against humanity in the name of religion. They chanted slogans demanding an immediate end to the violence against minority Hindus in Bangladesh and burned a flag during the protest.
Hindus being burned alive under Yunus's rule: Hasina
Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her Christmas message, said that Hindus are being continuously persecuted under the rule of interim government head Mohammad Yunus. Hindus are being burned alive. The current government, which has illegally seized power in Bangladesh, is interfering with the freedom of people of all religions and communities to practice their respective faiths. Atrocities are being committed against people in Bangladesh, especially non-Muslims.
It has also set horrific precedents, such as burning religious minorities alive. I am confident that the people of Bangladesh will not allow this dark period to continue any longer.
Mob lynched Deepu; outrage erupts Last week, Deepu Chandra Das was lynched by a mob in Mymensingh city, Bangladesh, following allegations of blasphemy, sparking outrage in Nepal and India. The Ramanandia Vaishnava Association stated that the Hindu population of Bangladesh has suffered significantly as a result of political events since 1947.
