New Delhi: As the Cockroach Janta Party decided to go strong in its protest against the alleged NEET paper leak at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, several major educational institutions have issued advisories for students and faculty to stay away from the gathering site. This move by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) follows Delhi University (DU), IIT Roorkee and many other universities to advise its members to keep away from the place, in the name of student safety, legal concerns and responsible public conduct.
This development comes as CJP conveyed that the Centre has agreed to hold talks with CJP representatives at a neutral venue, July 24 at the Constitution Club of India.
An official advisory from the university cautions all students, staff, and faculty members to keep away from any gatherings and meetings at and around Jantar Mantar. JNU also advised people to be conscious of their safety, and conduct themselves responsibly.
JNU conferred that the advisory has been exercised in accordance with Supreme Court's directions on public gatherings. The university also informed that it expects the people of JNU to remain responsible citizens.
Apart from avoiding protest sites, JNU asked students and staff to exercise responsibility while using social media. The university warned that violations could attract legal consequences under applicable laws as well as disciplinary action under the university's code of conduct.

The advisory stressed that students should remain mindful of their online activities during the ongoing protests.
It has attracted attention because JNU has long been known as one of India's most active centres of student politics and activism. Over the years, the campus has witnessed protests on education policies, campus governance and national issues.
Against that backdrop, asking students to stay away from a major protest site such as Jantar Mantar marks a significant shift.

Before JNU, Delhi University, IIT Roorkee and IIT Madras had issued similar advisories asking students and faculty to avoid protest participation and exercise caution.
Association of Indian Universities (AIU) also urged students to focus on examinations rather than joining demonstrations.
Delhi University warned students against participating in unauthorised assemblies at Jantar Mantar, saying such activities could lead to police action. The university also cautioned that legal records or police cases could affect students’ academic progress, campus standing and future career opportunities.

DU further advised students to verify information before sharing it online and warned against spreading fake news, altered videos or misleading social media content.
Cockroach Janta Party has been holding a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET paper leak and other examination irregularities. One of its key demands is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a complete overhaul of the education system.
CJP leader Sourav Das said the government has agreed to hold discussions with the organisation at a neutral venue, the Constitution Club of India. While welcoming the talks, the group said it would continue to press for its demands, including Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Protest gained momentum after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that a new Bill proposing stricter punishment for examination paper leaks would be introduced in Parliament. CJP leaders responded by saying the strictest action would be the removal of the Union Education Minister.
Reacting to Delhi University's advisory, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the university administration. He alleged that students were being threatened for exercising their democratic rights and said the administration would be held accountable.
