PDP protest on anniversary of Abolition of Article 370
Srinagar: The People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday organised a protest in Srinagar to mark the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, reiterating its demand for the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A and Jammu and Kashmir's constitutional guarantees.
Senior PDP leaders and party workers assembled in the city carrying placards and raising slogans, asserting that the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019, had altered the political and constitutional framework of the erstwhile State. The party described the day as a significant moment in Jammu and Kashmir's recent history and maintained that the restoration of constitutional safeguards remains one of its core political demands.

Addressing party workers, PDP leaders said that Articles 370 and 35A represented the constitutional relationship between Jammu and Kashmir and the Union of India and argued that their restoration was essential to protect the region's identity, land and employment rights. They also called for the restoration of full statehood and urged the Centre to engage in meaningful political dialogue with all stakeholders to address the aspirations of the people.
The leaders maintained that lasting peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir could be achieved through democratic engagement, constitutional processes and political reconciliation. They appealed for measures aimed at rebuilding public confidence and strengthening democratic institutions in the region.
The protest remained peaceful and concluded without any reports of violence or disruption. Security personnel were deployed around the protest venue as a precautionary measure to ensure law and order.
The demonstration was part of a series of political programmes observed by different parties across Jammu and Kashmir on the anniversary of the August 5, 2019 constitutional changes, reflecting continuing political differences over the issue.
