New Delhi: The weather system in India is quite active these days. Cyclonic circulations, troughs, and other weather systems are visible in the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and many parts of the country.

Let's find out how the weather has been in the past 24 hours and what special events are expected in the next 24 hours.

Cyclone 'Shakti'

Even after Cyclonic Storm 'Shakti', which formed in the west-central Arabian Sea, has weakened, its impact remains. It is now active as a well-marked low pressure area, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to an altitude of about 5.8 km above sea level.

This system is expected to weaken into a moderate low pressure by the evening of October 9. Cyclonic circulations persist over northern Odisha and central Assam.

A trough extends from southern Odisha to the Gulf of Mannar, passing through Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu. A cyclonic circulation has also formed over the Comorin region (southern tip of South India).

A western disturbance is active over northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, with a height of up to 4.5 km.

A new cyclonic circulation is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal around October 10.

Weather Update for the Last 24 Hours

Moderate to heavy rainfall occurred in interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Heavy rainfall was also recorded at isolated places in coastal Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and southern Madhya Pradesh.

Light to moderate rainfall occurred in West Bengal, Odisha, northeast India, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.

The weather cools due to rain and snowfall

Light rainfall was recorded in Jharkhand, northeast Madhya Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, and coastal Karnataka. Also, a drop of 1 to 2 degrees in minimum temperatures was observed in central parts of the country.

Weather for the next 24 hours

Moderate to heavy rainfall is again expected in Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka. Heavy rainfall is possible at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. Light rainfall is also possible in the Western Himalayan region, Bihar, Telangana, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Weather activity is currently quite intense in various parts of the country. Due to the impact of Cyclone Shakti and the formation of new circulations, rainfall may continue in many states in the coming days.
