New Delhi: Millions of farmers in India face financial difficulties related to agriculture. They often have to take loans when crops fail or production is low. To address these problems, the central and state governments are running several schemes. A prominent one is the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan), which was launched in 2019.
Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance of ₹6,000 to farmers every year in three installments. So far, 21 installments of the scheme have been disbursed to farmers' accounts.

The installments of the PM Kisan scheme are released at intervals of every four months. According to media reports, the 22nd installment may be released in February 2026. However, the government has not yet made an official announcement regarding this installment. Generally, the government announces the date a few days before the installment is released.
Recently, it was discovered that many farmers were fraudulently benefiting from the scheme. To prevent this, the government has made e-KYC and land record verification mandatory. Farmers who have not completed these processes will not receive the next installment.
In addition, farmers whose bank accounts are not linked to Aadhaar or who have provided incorrect information in the scheme will also not receive the 22nd installment. Therefore, farmers are advised to update their information and complete the verification process.
The main objective of the PM Kisan scheme is to strengthen the financial condition of farmers and provide them with financial assistance during farming. The assistance received under the scheme allows farmers to spend on seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural needs. This scheme is considered particularly important for small and marginal farmers.
The central government is consistently conveying the message that the benefits of the scheme will only be given to eligible and verified farmers. Farmers have been requested to update their e-KYC and bank details so that they can receive the 22nd installment on time.
