Bahraich: The Agriculture Department is continuously running a campaign to create Farmer Registry for farmers. Despite this, farmers are not taking interest in getting Farmer IDs. As a result, 45 percent of farmers are still deprived of Farmer IDs. The main reason for this is said to be a lack of awareness among farmers.
The government has set a target of creating Farmer IDs for 508,600 farmers in the district. Agriculture Department officials and employees are working on this. The Agriculture Department is also running awareness programs to create Farmer IDs.
Despite this, only 280,533 farmers have been able to get Farmer IDs, while 227,867 have not. Only 55 percent of farmers have received Farmer IDs. The Agriculture Department is still 45 percent behind the target. Of these, 2,905 farmers' cases are still pending despite their applications.
The Deputy Agriculture Director stated that farmers who do not have a Farmer ID will be excluded from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Therefore, farmers must obtain a Farmer ID by November 10th. He stated that in the future, the Farmer ID will be the primary identity of farmers, allowing them to purchase fertilizers and seeds. Those who do not have a Farmer ID may also be excluded from other Agriculture Department schemes.
