New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Israel on a two-day visit on February 25-26. This visit is considered crucial for the India-Israel strategic partnership. Preparations have intensified to further strengthen defense and technical cooperation between the two countries ahead of the visit. It is believed that a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on security cooperation may be signed.

Focus on Anti-Ballistic Missiles

According to sources, India and Israel may expand cooperation on anti-ballistic missile defense systems. This will be a key part of India's 'Mission Sudarshan,' which aims to protect the country from long-range enemy missiles. Israel possesses state-of-the-art defense systems, including the Arrow missile system, David's Sling, and Iron Dome.

Discussions on Lasers and Long-Range Weapons

According to reports, Israel is ready to provide India with laser-based defense systems, long-range missiles, and advanced drone technology. The Indian Navy is also considering incorporating a new version of the Barak missile system to protect its warships. This will further strengthen maritime security.

Cooperation Could Reach $10 Billion

Although the likelihood of signing any major defense deals during this visit is considered low, defense cooperation between the two countries could reach approximately $10 billion in the coming years. Both countries are also emphasizing joint research and production.
