New Delhi: Security forces have achieved a major success in Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Poonch by busting a suspected terrorist hideout in the Draba area of Surankote sector. A joint operation led to the recovery of a large quantity of explosives and ammunition, preventing a possible major security threat.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team comprising the 16 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), SOG Bufliaz, and the 38th Battalion of the CRPF launched a search operation in the Draba area.
During the operation, security personnel recovered several explosive devices, including a flowerpot-type IED, a spherical IED, and four smaller IEDs.
Apart from explosives, the security forces also recovered a Motorola wireless set and seven rounds of AK-47 ammunition from the suspected hideout.
The recovered material has been secured and sent for further examination. Security agencies have intensified monitoring in the region following the recovery.
Officials said an extensive search operation is still underway in the area to locate any additional suspicious material or possible links connected to the hideout.
Further details will be revealed after the completion of the investigation.
The operation is being considered a significant achievement for security forces, especially ahead of Independence Day, when security agencies remain on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir.
