According to sources, the explosion occurred when a police team, along with a magistrate and forensic officials, was taking samples from the explosive materials recovered from Haryana’s Faridabad last week.
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday issued a statement on the explosion at Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir, in which nine people were killed and while 27 policemen, two revenue officials, and three civilians were injured.
The statement said the Friday late-night blast at Nowgam police station in Srinagar was an 'accident' which occurred during the handling of explosive material recovered in a terror-module investigation. However the Home Ministry has ruled out any terror angle of the blast.
