New Delhi: India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day today with great pride and enthusiasm. The Central Government has made grand preparations to make this occasion special. This year, special emphasis has been placed on public participation in the celebrations, including participation from para-athletes, the transgender community, farmers, scientists, and ordinary citizens.

Parade Time and Venue

On the morning of January 26th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial. Following this, the Republic Day Parade will commence. The parade will be held from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on the Line of Duty. The President will arrive in a traditional carriage and take the salute during the march past. Contingents from the Armed Forces, paramilitary forces, NCC, and NSS will participate.

Who are the Chief Guests?

This year, the Chief Guests of the Republic Day Parade 2026 will be President of the European Council, António Costa, and President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. During this ceremony, a crucial free trade agreement between India and the European Union will be finalized.

This Year's Theme

The theme for Republic Day 2026 is "150 Years of Vande Mataram." The celebrations will be a confluence of the national song's historical legacy, military might, and cultural diversity. The parade will feature tableaux themed "Mantra of Freedom: Vande Mataram" and "Mantra of Prosperity: Self-Reliant India."

Cultural and Military Attractions

Approximately 2,500 artists will perform cultural performances on the path of duty. Music direction will be by M.M. Keeravani, narration by Anupam Kher, and choreography by Santosh Nair.

Military displays will showcase T-90 tanks, Arjun tanks, BrahMos, Akash missile systems, drones, and state-of-the-art weapons. The parade's highlight will be a grand fly-past by the Indian Air Force, with 29 aircraft participating.

How to Watch the Celebrations

A "Rashtraparva Portal" has been developed for the convenience of citizens, providing information on ticket booking, seating, and parking. Delhi Metro services will resume at 3 am. Park and ride facility will also be available.

Special Guests

This year, approximately 10,000 special guests have been invited, including para-athletics champions, outstanding farmers, scientists, startup innovators, and representatives of self-help groups.
