Republic Day on high alert as intelligence warns of terror strike
New Delhi: Intelligence agencies have issued a high-level alert over a potential terror threat from Khalistani outfits and Bangladesh-based extremist organizations in the run-up to Republic Day on January 26.
Following the warning, security has been significantly tightened in Delhi and several other major cities across the country.
According to intelligence inputs, terrorist networks operating from abroad may attempt to carry out attacks around Republic Day, with Delhi and other key urban centres believed to be on their target list.
The alert highlights the involvement of Khalistani handlers and radical elements who are allegedly using Punjabi gangsters as “foot soldiers” to execute their plans and destabilize internal security.
Sources indicate that these criminal gangs are active across Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, and are gradually developing operational links with Khalistani terrorist groups. Security agencies are closely monitoring these networks and their movements.
In view of the Republic Day celebrations, additional security forces have been deployed across sensitive locations. Strict surveillance, intensive checking, and heightened vigilance are being maintained, particularly in the national capital.
Security agencies have been directed to respond swiftly and decisively to any suspicious activity to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of Republic Day events.
