SIR period extended in 6 states including UP; find out when you can add your name to the voter list

New Delhi: A major development emerged on Thursday amidst the Special Intensive Review (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission in 12 states and Union Territories across the country.

The Election Commission, a short while ago on Thursday afternoon, extended the SIR period by one week in six states, including Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, names can be updated in the voter list until December 31st.

Besides Uttar Pradesh, the SIR period has also been extended in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The final dates for the SIR vary in each state.

The Election Commission extended the SIR date due to pending work related to the voter list, including the addition of voters' names.

In Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, the final date for the SIR will be December 19th. While in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the SIR campaign will continue until December 23rd.
