New Delhi: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party over the appointment of its new Uttar Pradesh state president. Targeting the ruling party, Yadav described the BJP as a “communal and capitalist” organisation and questioned its political intent behind the leadership change.

‘BJP Is Reducing Stature, Not Changing Leadership’

Reacting to the appointment, Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP is not removing leaders it cannot replace, but instead is deliberately reducing their stature. He pointed out that appointing a state president from the same region or a neighbouring district reflects the party’s internal power dynamics rather than genuine organisational reform.

Regional Reference Behind the Political Taunt

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hails from Gorakhpur, while the newly appointed BJP state president, Pankaj Chaudhary, comes from the neighbouring Maharajganj district. Political observers believe Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks were aimed at highlighting this regional proximity, suggesting an attempt by the BJP to rebalance power without altering its core leadership structure.

‘New Face, Same Ideology’

Akhilesh Yadav further questioned the BJP’s ideological stance, stating that while the party can appoint a new president, it cannot offer new ideas. “From where will the BJP bring a new ideology?” he asked, asserting that leadership changes alone cannot hide what he called the party’s unchanged political mindset.

Allegations of Communal and Capitalist Politics

Escalating his attack, the SP chief accused the BJP of being communal rather than secular, capitalist rather than socialist, and driven by a mentality to privatise and sell public assets. He claimed that the party’s policies consistently favour market forces and corporate interests over social welfare.

Privatisation Remarks Add to Controversy

Yadav also alleged that there are reports suggesting the BJP may move towards selling insurance sectors entirely, calling it further proof of the party’s pro-capitalist and market-centric approach. His remarks have intensified the political debate in Uttar Pradesh, especially ahead of future electoral battles.
