New Delhi: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) draft of electoral rolls has revealed a significant reduction in voter numbers across several states.

Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest deletions, where nearly 19 out of every 100 voters were removed. In contrast, Lakshadweep saw the least impact, with only 3 voters per 100 deleted.

Other major states also witnessed notable reductions. About 15% of voters were removed in Gujarat, 13% in Chhattisgarh, 8% in West Bengal, and around 7.5% in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

It is important to note that this is a draft list, and voters whose names are missing still have the opportunity to file claims and objections using prescribed forms.

1. Rajasthan: 41.85 lakh voters' names removed

In Rajasthan, 41.85 lakh voters' names have been removed from the SIR draft list. Before the draft list, there were 5.48 crore voters in the state. The draft list currently includes the names of 5.06 crore voters.

The percentage of deleted voters is at 7.6% approximately. However, out of 41.85 lakh voters, 8.75 lakh were found to be deceased, 3.44 lakh were duplicate or fake, while 29.6 lakh voters were shifted, missing, and others.

2. Uttar Pradesh: Names of 2.89 crore voters deleted

In Uttar Pradesh, 2.89 crore names have been cut from the SIR draft list. Before the draft list, there were 15.44 crore voters in the state; the draft list included the names of 12.55 crore voters.

The percentage of deleted voters is 18.72, meaning approximately 19 voters out of every 100 have had their names removed. However, out of 2.89 crore voters, 46.23 lakh were found to be deceased, 25.47 lakh were duplicate or fake, while 2.17 crore voters were shifted, missing, and others.

3. Madhya Pradesh: Names of 42.74 lakh voters deleted

In Madhya Pradesh, 42.74 lakh names have been removed from SIR's draft list. Before the draft list, there were 5.74 crore in the state; 5.31 crore voters' names were included in the draft list.

The percentage of deleted voters is 7.44, meaning approximately 7 voters out of every 100 had their names removed. However, out of 42.74 lakh voters, 8.46 lakh were found to be dead, 2.77 lakh were duplicate or fake, while 31.51 lakh voters were shifted, missing, and others.

4. West Bengal: 58.20 lakh voters' names deleted

In West Bengal, 58.20 lakh names have been cut from the SIR draft list. Before the draft list, there were 7.66 crore voters in the state; 7.08 crore voters' names were included in the draft list.

The percentage of deleted voters is 7.6, meaning approximately 8 out of every 100 voters' names have been removed. However, out of 58.20 lakh voters, 24.17 lakh were found to be deceased, 1.38 lakh were duplicate or fake, while 32.65 lakh voters were shifted, missing, and others.

5. Gujarat: 73.73 lakh voters' names deleted

In Gujarat, 73.73 lakh names have been cut from the draft SIR list. Before the draft list, there were 5.08 crore voters in the state; the draft list included 4.34 crore voters' names.

The percentage of deleted voters is 14.52, meaning approximately 15 voters out of every 100 have had their names removed. However, out of 73.73 lakh voters, 18.07 lakh were found dead, 3.81 lakh were duplicate or fake, while 51.85 lakh voters were shifted, missing, and others.

6. Tamil Nadu: 97 lakh voters' names deleted

In Tamil Nadu, 97 lakh names have been removed from SIR's draft list. Before the draft list, there were 6.41 crore voters in the state; 5.44 crore voters' names were included in the draft list.

The percentage of deleted voters is 15.13, meaning approximately 15 voters out of every 100 have had their names removed. However, out of 9.7 million voters, 2.695 million were found dead, 0.334 million were duplicate or fake, while 6.67 million voters were shifted, missing, and others.

7. Approximately 5.5 million names were deleted in six states

A large number of names have also been deleted in 6 other states in the draft voter list. In Chhattisgarh, out of 21.2 million, 2.734 million (12.9%) names were deleted, and now there are 18.5 million voters. In Kerala, out of 27.8 million, 2.408 million (8.66%) names were removed, leaving 25.4 million voters in the draft.

Meanwhile, in Goa, 1.01 lakh names, or 8.52%, were removed from 11.85 lakh voters. Now, 10.84 lakh voters remain. In Puducherry, 1.03 lakh names, or 10.09%, were removed from 10.21 lakh, leaving 9.18 lakh voters.

On the other hand, the impact was less in Lakshadweep. Out of 58 thousand, 1.6 thousand names were removed (2.79%), now there are 56.4 thousand voters. In Andaman and Nicobar, 64 thousand names were removed from 3.10 lakh (8.66%), now 2.46 lakh voters remain.

1. How to check name in draft list? - You can check your name in 3 ways. First - from the voter list available with the Booth Level Officer, from the ECINET mobile app, and through voters.eci.gov.in. Go to the Election Commission website. Select state and district. After that, select your assembly constituency. Select your booth and download the draft list.

2. What to do if the name is not in the draft voter list? - You can get your name added by filling Form-6. New voters will also have to fill Form-6.

3. Which form can be filled when, and can it be filled online? - Forms 6A, 7, 8 are also options. If you live abroad and want to add your name, you must fill Form 6A. If you want to remove a name, you must fill Form 7. If you want to change residence or make corrections, you must fill Form 8. Yes, forms can also be filled online.

4. Where can application forms be obtained, and where should they be submitted? - They can be obtained from Booth Level Officers, Voter Registration Centers (VRC) in Tehsils, or the website http://voters.eci.gov.in. After filling the form, it can be submitted to the Booth Level Officer or VRC in the Tehsil. Additionally, applications can be made online through the ECINET mobile app or http://voters.eci.gov.in.

5. What to do if you are eligible to vote for the first time? - Young people who turn 18 on January 1, 2026, must fill and submit Form 6. Names will be added after verification.

6. What happens after filling and submitting the form? - After filling the form and submitting claims/objections, an investigation will be conducted. Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers of all states will examine it.

7. Can names from the draft list also be removed? - If someone objects, a notice will be issued to the concerned voter. If no response is received, the BLO will cross-check. If the objection is found to be valid, the name will be removed from the final list.
