Tehran: The Embassy of India in Tehran has asked Indian nationals in Iran to remain indoors for at least 48 hours, citing heightened security risks as tensions in the region escalate.
In its latest advisory, Indian citizens are urged “stay where they are,” avoid unnecessary movement, and strictly follow safety protocols during the ongoing crisis.
The advisory cautioned Indians against visiting sensitive locations such as power grids, military installations, and other strategic sites that could become targets. It also recommended avoiding upper floors of multi-storey buildings as a precaution against possible strikes.
Travel on highways has been restricted, with the embassy asking citizens to coordinate any essential movement directly with officials to ensure safety.

The warning comes amid an increasingly volatile situation following ongoing strikes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The developments have raised fears of further escalation, particularly with a deadline linked to the Strait of Hormuz approaching.
The conflict has already impacted civilian areas and infrastructure, prompting several countries to issue advisories for their citizens in the region.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it has been actively facilitating the movement of Indian nationals from affected areas.
According to officials, more than 1,800 Indians have been assisted in crossing into neighbouring countries such as Armenia and Azerbaijan for onward travel to India. These include a significant number of students and workers.
Authorities have set up a dedicated control room to coordinate evacuation and provide real-time assistance. The government is also working closely with state governments and Union Territories to share updates and ensure smooth communication with families of those in the region.
Officials reiterated that the safety and welfare of the Indian community remains the top priority amid the evolving crisis.
Since the escalation began in late February, hundreds of thousands of passengers have returned to India from West Asia, reflecting the scale of disruption caused by the conflict.
The government continues to assess the situation and stands ready to take further measures depending on how conditions unfold.
