Agartala: After Dipa Karmakar, Tripura’s gymnast Shreeparna Dey brought four prestigious gold medals for the state in the Artistic Gymnastics National Championship held in Pune.

Shreeparna clinched the gold medal with a commanding overall score of 42.40 points. Her routines in the Vaulting Table (11.55), Uneven Bars (8.30), Balancing Beam (11.35), and Floor Exercise (11.20) showcased her finesse and composure under pressure.

The momentum carried into Saturday’s Apparatus Events, where Shreeparna delivered spellbinding performances in three categories—Vaulting Table, Balancing Beam, and Floor Exercise—to secure three additional gold medals.

With near-flawless execution, she scored 11.800 in Vaulting Table, 11.033 in Balancing Beam, and 10.300 in Floor Exercise. Though a medal in the Uneven Bars narrowly slipped out of her grasp, her overall gold medal count at the championship rose to an astounding four.

West Indies Captain

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews performed brilliantly on the first day of the Women's World Cup Qualifier, but despite showing amazing performance with both bat and ball, Matthews' team had to face defeat. Scotland gave a big shock by winning this match by 11 runs.

Matthews bowled brilliantly in the first innings of the match and took 4 wickets for 56 runs. Scotland's team looked strong at 182 runs in the first 34 overs, but after that their batting lineup collapsed and the entire team was reduced to 245 runs in 44 overs.

Matthews retired hurt twice during this period at the score of 95 and 99, and once she was taken out of the field on a stretcher, but she did not lose courage and came back and completed her 9th century in 101 balls.

Matthews became the fourth female player in ODI history to score a century and take four wickets. She also became the first female captain to do this feat. At the age of 27, she also made the record of the second fastest player to complete 9 centuries in the least number of innings (88).

Despite this defeat, Hayley Matthews' performance will always be remembered in the history of women's cricket.
