New Delhi: The Government of India is continuously monitoring the ongoing tensions in West Asia (the Middle East). Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India is closely tracking every new development. The government's top priorities remain the safety of Indian citizens and regional stability, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
US President Donald Trump has announced a suspension of planned attacks on Iranian energy facilities for the next five days. He stated that this decision was taken following "good and positive conversations," raising hopes that tensions between the two nations may de-escalate.
Trump's decision had an immediate impact on the global market. Crude oil prices (Brent Crude) fell below the $100 per barrel mark, dropping by approximately 12.5% to settle at around $98.18 per barrel. This has fueled hopes for economic relief across the globe.
Had a detailed telecon this evening with US @SecRubio. Our discussions focused on the West Asia conflict and its impact on the international economy. We particularly spoke about energy security concerns. Agreed to remain in touch.

In light of the situation, India has also stepped up its diplomatic efforts. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held discussions with the ambassadors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations—Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. He also expressed his gratitude for the support extended to Indian citizens residing in these countries.
Additionally, Mr. Jaishankar spoke over the phone with the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka to discuss the situation in West Asia. This underscores the fact that India is playing an active role on the global stage regarding this issue.
While Trump's decision signals a temporary de-escalation of tensions, the situation remains fluid and sensitive. For nations like India, it remains imperative to stay prepared for any eventuality and to ensure the safety and security of their citizens.
