Uttarakhand: Cloudburst wreak havoc in Dharali, dozens of houses washed away; Resque underway

Dehradun: A massive cloudburst today on Tuesday in Dharali village of Uttarkashi has triggered huge devastation. Over a dozens of houses has been washed away in the floods caused by this nature's fury, reports Dyanamite News correspondent.

This incident of cloudburst happened in Dharali village just ahead of Gangotri Dham. As a reult a bulk of mountain debris entered the village and threw life out of gear.

The video of the incident has surfaced on social media, in which mountain debris and drain water is seen entering the village. Many more houses are also likely to be affected due to debris and drain.

According to media reports, cloudburst in Kheer Ganga river in Dharali, a major stop on the way to Gangotri from Uttarkashi, has caused devastation.

More than 20 hotels and homestays near Harshil have been damaged due to the devastating flood caused by cloudburst. There is a danger of a number of local residents and laborers being buried.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote on X, "The news of heavy damage due to cloudburst in Dharali area of Uttarkashi is extremely sad and painful. SDRF, NDRF, district administration and other concerned teams are engaged in relief and rescue work on a war footing. I am constantly in touch with senior officials in this regard and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to God for everyone's safety.'

Gangotri MLA Chauhan

While talking to some media people, Gangotri MLA Suresh Singh Chauhan said, 'There is a scene of devastation due to cloudburst over Kheer Gadh in Dharali. The Chief Minister has been informed immediately. Along with the information to the District Magistrate, the Army, Police, SDRF team have reached the affected area....'

Chauhan further said that this is a very big disaster. 'I have also left for the spot from Dehradun. I pray to God to save everyone safely from this hour of fury.'
