New Delhi: With the announcement of CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA's Vice-President candidate after the approval in the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting held on Sunday, political corridors are abuzz with the change in the BJP's strategy in making this decision, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

While CP Radhakrishnan is considered as a mellow and inclusive strategic and pan-South Indian with a rich background of Jan Sangh, Jagdeep Dhankhar was a Jat-heavy and with vocal impulsiveness.

The political philosophies of Dhankhar and CP Radhakrishnan are entirely dissimilar. There were protests by the Jats in 2022 when Jagdeep Dhankhar was announced as the NDAs nominee for governor. Given this circumstance its plausible that the government selected Jagdeep Dhankhar in order to send a positive message to the Jats. Due to his long tenure in the Congress party and lack of affiliation with the Sangh Jagdeep Dhankhar was an outsider for the BJP.

However CP Radhakrishnan is an OBC representative from Tamil Nadu. Additionally it supports the BJPs OBC social engineering. The BJP has yet to gain traction in any of the South Indian states outside Karnataka. Tamil Nadu will hold assembly elections in roughly a year and a half. Numerous opposition parties will be unable to challenge CP Radhakrishnans name.

Since he was a young boy CP Radhakrishnan has been affiliated with the Sangh and is a fervent advocate of the BJP and Sangh ideology. In contrast to Dhankhars combative political approach Radhakrishnan is inclusive. Dhankhar is a well-known litigator and vocal politician who has a combative political style. Even as the governor of Bengal he frequently clashed with the government of Mamata Banerjee. It is possible that Dhankhar gained an advantage from this conflict as it brought him to the attention of the central government which led to his promotion and appointment as vice president.

Because of his reputation as a calm and gentle leader CP Radhakrishnan is better able to fulfill his constitutional duties. Leaders of the opposition have charged Dhankhar with lacking objectivity. The BJP needed a leader who could maintain equilibrium in the Upper House under such circumstances. In this context CP Radhakrishnan is also appropriate.
