Motion to impeach Justice Yashwant Varma in cash row not admitted in Rajya Sabha, say sources
VP Dhankhar’s shock resignation follows rift with govt over accepting impeachment motion against Justice Varma, accused in crores cash fire case. Opposition parties had demanded impeachment against him. But Rajya Sabha did not approve this proposal. This has raised many questions in the Parliament and among the public. According to sources, this proposal was never formally accepted in the Rajya Sabha, so the question of withdrawing it does not arise. Lok Sabha to now initiate probe.
