WB government minister Siddiqullah Chowdhury attacked by mob
Kolkata: West Bengal government minister and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Siddiqullah Chowdhury's convoy was attacked by a mob in Purba Bardhaman district on Thursday.
However, the minister is safe in this attack. Police is investigating the matter.
Siddiqullah Chowdhury, MLA from Monteswar assembly constituency of Bardhaman district, said that there was an attempt to kill him.
He told that stones were thrown at his vehicle and the glass was broken, which also injured his hand.
He alleged, local Panchayat Pradhan Rafikul Islam Sheikh along with his supporters carried out this attack.
The in-charge of the local police station did not take any action to stop the attackers. Only the security personnel present with me saved me.
The minister has demanded strict action against the attackers from the administration.
At the same time, Panchayat Pradhan Rafikul Islam Sheikh, accepting the attack, said, it was a protest by the local people, in which they were showing black flags to the minister.
The minister is corrupt and has done nothing for the people of Monteshwar. We wanted to tell him our problems, but his convoy started moving fast, which might have caused some damage to the vehicle. But he is faking a murderous attack.
Police have confirmed the black flag demonstration and stone pelting. They said the crowd at the spot was dispersed and the minister was taken to a safe place with the help of a pilot car.
