
IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert For Delhi, UP And 18 Other States (Img: Pinterest)
New Delhi: The southwest monsoon may be nearing its withdrawal phase, but rainfall activity continues across several parts of India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across 20 states on October 8. In some areas, wind speeds could reach up to 60 kmph.
According to the forecast, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Assam could witness rain and thunderstorms.

The weather conditions are linked to active weather systems and cyclonic circulations over parts of the Bay of Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Delhi may receive thunderstorms and heavy showers accompanied by gusty winds. The national capital could record a maximum temperature of around 33°C and a minimum of 23°C.
Several parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Rae Bareli, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Agra, Meerut, Mathura and Kanpur, may experience heavy rain and winds reaching up to 60 kmph.
Several districts of Bihar are also expected to receive heavy rainfall. In Madhya Pradesh, areas including Raisen, Seoni, Chhatarpur, Shahdol, Damoh, Balaghat, Chhindwara and Jabalpur could see intense showers.
Rajasthan is also likely to witness rain and gusty winds in Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Bhilwara and Ajmer.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand remain under close watch as heavy rain and strong winds could affect several districts. Jammu and Kashmir may also experience heavy showers and winds of up to 60 kmph.
Authorities have advised people in vulnerable areas to remain cautious, while farmers and fishermen have also been urged to follow weather advisories.
