New Delhi: The monsoon may have officially withdrawn, but rain activity is likely to continue across several parts of India over the next few days. According to the weather department, the influence of western disturbance, cyclonic circulations and trough lines could bring rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds to several states.
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh may witness rainfall on October 8 and again on October 10. Some higher-altitude areas could also receive light snowfall. Rain is possible in areas including Rajouri and Poonch, while parts of Anantnag, Pulwama and Doda may see snowfall.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience intermittent light to moderate rain until October 10. Areas such as Shimla, Manali and Kullu could also experience strong winds. Rain is expected in parts of Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Rudraprayag and Chamoli in Uttarakhand.
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh may receive scattered rain accompanied by thunderstorms until October 10. Parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh could also witness rainfall.
Some areas of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan may experience light rain or drizzle along with gusty winds. The weather shift could also cause fluctuations in temperatures across Delhi-NCR.
Bihar and Jharkhand are likely to experience light rain, thunderstorms and lightning on October 7. West Bengal could also see rainfall due to ongoing cyclonic activity.
Rain is expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh until October 9, while Chhattisgarh may receive showers until October 10. The Vidarbha region of Maharashtra could also witness rainfall until October 8.
Several weather systems are contributing to the changing conditions. A cyclonic circulation is present around Sikkim, while a trough extends from northeast Bihar towards the northwest Bay of Bengal in the lower troposphere.
Cyclonic activity is also being observed over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining coastal Tamil Nadu. Another trough extends from the Gulf of Mannar towards the east-central Arabian Sea.
These systems are expected to keep rainfall activity alive across several parts of the country for the next four to five days. Rainfall intensity over northeastern states may gradually decrease, while rain and snowfall in the hills could lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures and an early chill in some areas.
