IMD Warns Of Heavy Rain Across 18 States (Img: X)
New Delhi: The southwest monsoon remains active across large parts of India, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in several regions over the next few days.
A red alert has been issued for parts of Himachal Pradesh, while many other states are expected to witness intense rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, particularly in districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Kinnaur and Sirmaur. Authorities have cautioned residents about the risk of landslides, flash floods and road disruptions in vulnerable areas.
Uttarakhand is also expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the coming days, with districts such as Dehradun, Nainital, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi likely to be affected.
Delhi-NCR is expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall. Strong winds may also occur in some areas, providing relief from the recent spell of humid weather.
Several districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Bijnor, Agra, Bareilly, Jhansi, Prayagraj and Sonbhadra, are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Eastern and western parts of the state are expected to continue witnessing widespread rain over the next few days.

In Bihar, the IMD has issued weather alerts for districts including Patna, Rohtas, Nawada and Kaimur, while several other districts could experience thunderstorms, gusty winds and heavy showers.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in several parts of the country, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Kerala, Haryana, Telangana and Gujarat.
Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, stay away from swollen rivers and landslide-prone zones, and follow local weather advisories.
