IMD Issues heavy rain alert (Source: Internet)
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in six states of the country. According to the weather forecast, several states have already received rainfall in the past 24 hours, and more rain is expected today and in the coming days, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The IMD has said that South Bengal, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Gujarat are likely to get very heavy rain in the next 24 hours. Also, Assam and Meghalaya may receive extremely heavy rainfall in the next two days. Due to this, a Red Alert has been issued in these states.
There is a strong chance of heavy rain in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha. In these areas, rainfall will be very heavy at isolated places. Northeast India may continue to receive rain for the next 5 days.
In Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh, rain with strong winds is likely. Winds may blow at 50–70 km/h, and these areas may also see rainfall on Thursday.

From June 18 to 20, rain with strong winds is expected in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada.
On June 18–19, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Karnataka may receive heavy rain.
Between June 20–22, Punjab and Haryana will get rain.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh may receive rain on June 19 and 20, and Western Uttar Pradesh on June 20 and 21.
Delhi-NCR received rain on Tuesday night. For Wednesday (today), IMD has issued a Yellow Alert. Rain and strong winds of 50–60 km/h are expected today, either in the day or at night. Maximum temperature may reach 34°C, and minimum temperature may remain around 27°C.
While the downpour brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat, it also caused serious problems such as waterlogging and massive traffic jams.
Rainfall has been reported in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. An Orange Alert has been issued for Mandi and Shimla for Saturday. A Yellow Alert is in place for Bilaspur, Solan, and Sirmaur districts. Rain with thunderstorms is also expected in most districts (except Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti) from Wednesday to Saturday.
