West Bengal cabinet expansion on Monday; 35 ministers to take oath

New Delhi: Preparations for a major cabinet expansion in West Bengal have been completed. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari announced on Sunday that 35 new ministers will be inducted into the state government. All ministers are scheduled to take their oaths on Monday, June 1.

Sharing this information on the social media platform 'X', the Chief Minister stated that the swearing-in ceremony, organized by the Raj Bhavan, will take place at Nabanna at 11:00 AM. Governor RN Ravi will administer the oaths of office and secrecy to the new ministers.

Cabinet Expansion in the West Bengal Government

CM Shubhendu Adhikari stated, "The full Council of Ministers for the nationalist government, elected by the mandate of the people of West Bengal, will be constituted tomorrow.

As part of this cabinet expansion, 35 ministers will take their oaths at Nabanna at 11:00 AM. Governor R.N. Ravi will administer the oaths to them."

According to sources, several senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are likely to be entrusted with key responsibilities and major portfolios within the government.

Earlier, on May 18, the West Bengal Cabinet had approved the formation of two commissions to investigate cases involving institutional corruption and atrocities against women.

The Chief Minister had announced that the commission constituted to investigate institutional corruption would be headed by Justice Biswajit Basu, a retired judge of the Calcutta High Court.

Meanwhile, the commission established to address cases related to atrocities against women would be chaired by retired Justice Sampati Chatterjee.

The Chief Minister reiterated that his government remains committed to ensuring transparency and protecting the rights of its citizens. Both commissions are scheduled to commence their operations on June 1.
