Alongside him, four newly elected MLAs have been inducted into the state cabinet as ministers, marking the beginning of the government’s second tenure with a focus on development and governance.

Guwahati: Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in today as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term, underscoring his party’s strong mandate in the state.

The ceremony took place at the Veterinary College ground in Khanapara, Guwahati.

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarma, along with four other MLAs who took oath as ministers at 11:40 am.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union ministers, and chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.

The four ministers sworn in alongside Sarma were:

Ajanta Neog (BJP): Former Finance Minister, the first woman to hold the post in Assam, and representing Golaghat Assembly constituency since 2001.

Rameswar Teli (BJP): Hailing from the tea garden workers’ community, former Rajya Sabha MP and Dibrugarh MP from 2014 to 2024.

Atul Bora (AGP): President of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a key NDA ally in Assam.

Charan Boro (BPF): From Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), served as Transport Minister in the previous government.

Election Results
In the recent Assam Assembly elections, the NDA secured a decisive victory, winning 102 out of 126 seats. The BJP won 82 seats, while its alliance partners, AGP and BPF, won 10 seats each. The majority mark to form the government in the state is 64.
