New Delhi: Newly appointed West Bengal Governor R N Ravi on Monday met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday.

Officials described the meeting as a courtesy call following Ravi’s recent transfer and appointment to the constitutional post in West Bengal.

Governor Transfers Announced

The meeting comes days after the President issued orders reshuffling governors in several states. Under the new arrangement, Ravi, who had been serving as the Governor of Tamil Nadu, was transferred and appointed as the Governor of West Bengal.

The reshuffle was part of routine administrative changes made at the level of state governors.

Additional Responsibility for Rajendra Arlekar

In another development, Rajendra Arlekar, who is currently serving as the Governor of Kerala, has also been given additional charge as the in-charge Governor of Tamil Nadu through a presidential order.

Such temporary arrangements are often made until a full-time appointment is announced.

Courtesy Visits After Appointments

Following the recent reshuffle, several governors who were newly appointed or transferred have been meeting the President in New Delhi as part of customary protocol.

Political observers say his visit to the national capital soon after taking charge as the Governor of West Bengal is being closely watched in view of the approaching electoral process in the state.
