New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked 25 years as the head of a government by offering prayers at Shri Vinayak Mandir in Sarojini Nagar.
Modi’s political journey at the helm of a government began on October 7, 2001, when he took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Twenty-five years later, he remains at the centre of Indian politics as Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister visited the Delhi temple early Wednesday and performed prayers and rituals dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

In a message marking the occasion, Modi said he prayed for the happiness, prosperity and good health of people across the country. He also expressed hope that the nation would continue on the path of progress.
The temple visit came as the BJP and its supporters organised programmes across the country to mark Modi’s 25 years at the helm of a government.
Modi became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and remained in the post for more than 12 years. He moved to national politics in 2014 after leading the BJP to victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
He subsequently returned as Prime Minister after the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, beginning his third consecutive term at the Centre in June 2024.

The BJP has planned a series of programmes to mark the milestone, including service activities, public events, Seva Yatras and torch processions.
Two Seva Yatras linking Modi’s hometown Vadnagar with his parliamentary constituency Varanasi are also being concluded as part of the celebrations.

The Union Cabinet also adopted a resolution commemorating Modi’s 25 years as the head of a government, highlighting his political journey from Gujarat to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Modi’s completion of 25 years at the helm of a government marks a significant milestone in his political career, spanning his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and his subsequent years as Prime Minister of India.
