New Delhi: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday sharply criticised Opposition MPs in the Lok Sabha, accusing them of repeatedly disrupting proceedings and warning that such actions could erode public trust.
Speaking during the session, Rijiju said the continued protests inside the House were creating anger among the public and could affect the Opposition’s chances of returning to power in the future. He also took a dig at the Indian National Congress, claiming that its leadership was unable to control the situation inside Parliament.

Addressing Opposition members, Rijiju said their actions were damaging the dignity of Parliament and frustrating citizens who expect lawmakers to debate issues constructively.
He remarked that the public was closely watching the disruptions and warned that people may punish those responsible in future elections. Rijiju also referred to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi while criticising the conduct of Congress leaders during the proceedings.
The minister urged Opposition MPs to change their approach and allow Parliament to function smoothly.
The comments came amid repeated disruptions in the Lok Sabha over an alleged shortage of LPG cylinders in several parts of the country.
Opposition MPs raised the issue during Question Hour and demanded a discussion on the reported supply crisis. The protests continued even after the House briefly reconvened following an earlier adjournment.
Rijiju attempted to address the House during the session, but sloganeering by Opposition members prevented normal proceedings.
Presiding officer Sandhya Ray repeatedly urged protesting MPs to return to their seats and allow the House to function. However, the uproar continued, forcing her to adjourn the House for the second time until 2 pm.
Earlier in the day, Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, had also adjourned the House till noon following protests. The Opposition insisted on an immediate discussion on the LPG issue, while the government maintained that parliamentary business should proceed as scheduled.
Later in the day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was expected to respond to the debate on the Supplementary Demands for Grants for the financial year 2025-26.
