New Delhi: Important proceedings are scheduled in the Lok Sabha on Friday during the Budget Session of Parliament. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce the Appropriation Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha today. This bill seeks to authorize the use and disbursement of additional funds from the Consolidated Fund of India for the financial year 2025–26.

According to the parliamentary agenda, the Finance Minister will first seek leave from the House to introduce the bill and then submit it for consideration and passage. This process will be completed after the vote on the Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2025–26.

Supplementary Demands for Grants to be Discussed

The Lok Sabha will also discuss and vote on the Supplementary Demands for Grants (second batch) for 2025–26 today. In addition, the demands for grants under the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for the upcoming financial year 2026–27 are also likely to be discussed and voted on.

All these processes are part of important parliamentary procedures related to the annual budget and financial management of the Central Government.

Several Ministers to Present Official Documents in House

During the House proceedings, several Union Ministers will also present official documents and reports in the Lok Sabha. These include External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel, and Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth.

Anupriya Patel will also present a statement in the House amending an earlier reply related to GST on the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will outline the government's legislative work for the week beginning March 16.

Several Motions in Private Members' Business

Private Members' Business will be taken up in the Lok Sabha during the latter part of the day. During this time, several MPs may introduce various bills. These may include proposals related to issues such as a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, prevention of mob lynching, welfare of fishermen, regulation of tour operators, rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, and reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the private sector.

Opposition Protests and Second Phase of the Budget Session

Parliamentary proceedings are taking place at a time when leaders of the opposition alliance INDIA Bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, are protesting against the government over reports of a possible LPG shortage in the country due to rising tensions in West Asia. The opposition is demanding a discussion on this issue in Parliament.

It is noteworthy that the second phase of the Budget Session will continue until April 2. The session began with the President's address on January 28, and 30 sittings are scheduled over a total of 65 days, during which the Union Budget 2026–27 and other important legislative work will be completed.
