Akhilesh Yadav vows to unite the INDIA alliance despite Bihar poll setbacks, alleging BJP plans to delete votes via a controversial app. He hints at using AI and tech innovations to counter the BJP in UP’s 2027 elections. What’s next for the political chessboard?

Akhilesh Yadav vows to unify INDIA bloc together
New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday reiterated his commitment to maintaining the party’s alliance with the Congress, despite the bloc’s setback in the recent Bihar Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference, Yadav said the SP would work to bring all partners of the INDIA alliance together and strengthen the coalition ahead of future elections.
“Our experience in Bihar was not as we had hoped, but we will continue to run the INDIA alliance and make every effort to unite all partners,” Yadav said, countering claims by the BJP that cracks had emerged in the coalition.

Yadav raised concerns over a mapping application used for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that the BJP could use the app to delete votes, potentially affecting three crore voters. The SP chief pointed out that the app was developed by a company that had donated to the BJP through electoral bonds, questioning the security and transparency of the system.
“The BJP is such a clever party… Those who developed the app should know where the data is going,” he remarked, accusing the ruling party of attempting to manipulate voter data in areas where they face electoral challenges.
Yadav urged the Election Commission to focus on increasing voter participation through technology rather than enabling the deletion of electors. He warned that the SIR could effectively serve as a proxy for implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Uttar Pradesh to influence the 2027 Assembly elections.
Speaking from Hyderabad, where he attended the ‘Vision India: AI Summit,’ Yadav highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in governance and elections. He said the SP would use AI to improve administration and even to strategize electoral campaigns, aiming to counter the BJP in upcoming polls.

He also stressed the importance of making Aadhaar foolproof and linking it with voter lists to prevent irregularities, emphasizing that technology should serve progressive and positive purposes.
Akhilesh Yadav’s statements underline the SP’s strategy to consolidate the INDIA alliance, address alleged electoral threats, and prepare for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. His focus on AI and technology reflects a new approach to governance and political strategy, positioning the party as forward-looking while challenging the BJP’s dominance in the state.
