DMK-Congress alliance to contest Tamil Nadu polls together, says CM Stalin

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has made it clear that there is no question of sharing power with coalition partners in the state. However, he also stated that the alliance between the DMK and Congress is completely strong and the upcoming elections will be fought together. Stalin's statement comes after some Congress leaders raised the demand for a power-sharing agreement.

Seat-sharing talks from February 22nd

The Chief Minister announced that the party would begin seat-sharing talks with its "friendly parties" from February 22nd. A day earlier, the Congress leadership had expressed displeasure over the delay in seat-sharing talks. Stalin said that a power-sharing arrangement is not practical in Tamil Nadu politics, and that the allies also understand this well.

Special remarks on relationship with Rahul Gandhi

In a discussion organized by a private TV channel, Stalin also highlighted his personal relationship with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that Rahul Gandhi considers him like an elder brother and he too sees Rahul as a brother. Stalin stressed that this relationship is not limited to politics, but is rooted in family sentiments.

Claims for a Big Election Victory

Regarding the upcoming elections, Stalin expressed full confidence that the DMK-Congress alliance will win. He stated that the party is expecting at least 200 seats and is confident of winning even more. According to Stalin, the government's schemes have fully reached the public over the past five years, and votes will be sought on that basis.

Questions Raised Again on Center-State Relations

Stalin also reiterated his accusation that the central government is not providing adequate financial assistance to Tamil Nadu. He stated that the state is not receiving its share of resources, which hinders development work. Despite this, he expressed confidence that the public is satisfied with the government's performance, and this will have a positive impact on the elections.

No Concerns About Opposition Alliances

The Chief Minister dismissed any concerns about potential alliances with opposition parties. He stated that no matter how many alliances the opposition forms, the DMK-led alliance will remain invincible. Stalin also claimed that the upcoming elections would not be tougher than 2021 and his party would return with a clear majority.
