Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its manifesto for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, outlining a mix of welfare measures, direct financial assistance, and governance reforms.
The document was unveiled by party president JP Nadda on the occasion of Tamil New Year, which he described as an auspicious moment symbolising a “new beginning” for the state. Several senior party leaders were present during the launch.

The manifesto places strong emphasis on financial support for women and households. The BJP has promised a monthly assistance of ₹2,000 for women heads of families. Additionally, a one-time financial aid of ₹10,000 has been proposed for every household.
To ease the burden of rising household expenses, the party also pledged to provide three free LPG cylinders annually, to be distributed during festivals such as Pongal, Diwali, and Tamil New Year.
For farmers, the BJP proposed the “Uzhave Thai” scheme, offering an additional ₹3,000 per year over the Centre’s PM-Kisan support. If implemented, this would increase the total annual assistance to ₹9,000.
On law and order, the manifesto includes provisions such as zero-FIR registration, victim and witness protection systems, and fast-track courts for serious offences, including crimes against women.
The party has also proposed establishing a Tamil Nadu Drug Eradication Department, supported by a specialised anti-narcotics task force to address drug-related challenges.
The BJP has pledged to preserve traditional practices, including ensuring the continuation of the Karthigai Deepam ritual at the Thirupuramkundram hilltop.
During the announcement, the BJP criticised the ruling DMK, accusing it of governance failures and unfulfilled promises. The party also raised concerns over law and order and alleged that several commitments made in the previous election remain incomplete.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections for all 234 seats are scheduled to be held on April 23, with counting of votes set for May 4.
