Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tribute to the Language Martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the anti-Hindi agitations of 1964-65. Stalin emphasized that Hindi has no place in Tamil Nadu now or ever and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to protecting Tamil language and identity.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin on Sunday paid tribute to the state's language martyrs who lost their lives during the historic anti-Hindi movements. On this occasion, he made it clear that there is no place for Hindi in Tamil Nadu, not now, not ever.
Sharing a post on social media, Stalin said, "A state that cherished its language like life, unitedly fought against the forced imposition of Hindi and protested with the same zeal every time it was imposed." He also shared a short video based on the history of the anti-Hindi movement, mentioning the martyrs of the 1965 movement and highlighting the contributions of DMK stalwarts C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi.

Stalin said, "Tamil Nadu protected the rights and identity of the various linguistic nationalities of the subcontinent through the anti-Hindi movement." Expressing gratitude to the language martyrs, the Chief Minister said that no life will be lost in the language war and that their love for the Tamil language will never die. He further said, "We will always oppose the imposition of Hindi."

Tamil Nadu continues to follow the two-language formula (Tamil and English). The DMK has consistently accused the central government of imposing Hindi through the NEP 2020. Stalin said on this occasion that the struggle for Tamil language and culture will continue and that no government can impose pressure on the language.
Language martyrs were those who sacrificed their lives in the anti-Hindi movements during 1964-65. Most of them resorted to painful methods like self-immolation. Remembering their sacrifice on this day, the Tamil Nadu government and political parties ensure that the language and cultural identity will always be protected.
