Centenary celebrations of RSS and Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar
Coimbatore: The centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the revered Saiva spiritual leader Seervalarseer Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar were held today at the historic Tamil College auditorium in Perur, situated near the sacred banks of the Noyyal River in Coimbatore district, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The day began at 6:30 AM with a holy Shiva Yagam, conducted with Vedic chanting and elaborate rituals. The yagam was led by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, along with Adheenams and spiritual saints. Thousands of devotees took part in the rituals and received blessings from his Holiness Marudhachalam Adiglar of Perur Adheenam, Kumaraguruparar Adiglar of Siruvachur Adheenam, and other revered saints.
Shiva Yagam Led By RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat
As part of the spiritual proceedings, devotees performed padapuja (ritualistic cleansing of the lotus feet) of the saints in a gesture of reverence.
Over 1,500 delegates from various spiritual organizations, including the Chinmaya Mission, participated. He emphasized that the Shiva Yagam was performed with the intention of universal peace.
At 9:00 AM, the official centenary function commenced with Vedic prayers, where all participants collectively prayed for “One Earth, One Health” and world peace.
In his presidential address, Mohan Bhagwat, head of the RSS, stated:
“Hinduism is not merely a religion but a way of life. Lord Shiva, the Supreme Being, possesses all powers yet remains humble and does not exhibit them. Even the most powerful deities worship Shiva. In today’s volatile global climate, Hindu values offer the only path toward peace and harmony.”
He added that true happiness comes from within and not from external possessions, highlighting the importance of inner spiritual joy. Bhagwat also praised the Adheenams of South India for their historical role in promoting social reform and spiritual unity.
“It is an honor to be here, having come from Assam, to witness the confluence of two great milestones – the 100 years of RSS and the centenary of the noble Adheenam Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar,” he said.
Adheenams And Spiritual Leaders
During the event, Mohan Bhagwat, the Adheenams, and other spiritual leaders were honored by a host of political dignitaries including, SP Velumani; AIADMK MLA and former Minister; Nainar Nagendran, BJP Tamil Nadu State President; K. Annamalai, Former BJP State President; Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP National Mahila Morcha President and Coimbatore South MLA; Prof. Kanak Sabapathi, BJP State Vice President; Arvind Menon, BJP Senior In-charge and Other BJP and AIADMK executives
As a mark of respect, SP Velumani presented a silver ‘Vel’ (spear) to Mohan Bhagwat.
Speeches were also delivered by Marudhachalam Adiglar of Perur Adheenam, Kumaraguruparar Adiglar of Siruvachur Adheenam, and Rahul Raja, the event's RSS Program Convener.
The program concluded with a special audio-visual documentary showcasing the life and contributions of Perur Adheenam and the achievements of the RSS under the leadership of Mohan Bhagwat.
