New Delhi: Almost everybody know that 21 June is the longest day of the year. Normal days are seen as 24 hours, 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. However, there is a difference in the time of day and night due to sunrise and sunset. That is why the day of 21 June is longer than normal days, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The simple reason is solstice. Summer solstice 2025 marks longest day of the year in Northern Hemisphere. The summer solstice or estival solstice occurs when one of Earth's poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. It happens twice yearly.
On 21 June, the energy of the Sun is the most intense and its spiritual and astrological significance is also immense. It is believed that by doing special worship of the Sun God on this day, one gets freedom from all the troubles of life and health, energy and success increase.
This day is also known as the summer solstice. This is the day when the Sun is at its peak position and its rays fall on the earth for the longest time. According to religious beliefs, worshiping the Sun God on this special day gives relief from all the troubles of life and brings happiness and prosperity.
Summer Solstice has special significance in both astrology and astronomy. On this day, the Sun enters Dakshinayan from Uttarayan. From a religious point of view, the Sun is considered the giver of energy, health and life. According to the scriptures, by worshipping the Sun God, a person gets health, wealth, fame and mental peace. The fruit of worshipping the Sun on the longest day of the year is many times more.

1. Wake up early in the morning and take a bath: On June 21, wake up before sunrise and take a holy bath.
2. Try to take a bath in a holy river or take a bath at your home by mixing Ganga water in the water.
3. After bathing, wear red clothes. Take water in a copper pot and add a little red sandalwood, red flowers and akshat (rice) to it.
4. At sunrise, stand in front of the Sun God and offer a stream of water slowly while chanting the mantra 'Om Ghrini Suryaya Namah'. Keep in mind that the stream of water should be so thin that you can see the rays of the sun through it.

5. After offering Arghya, chant various mantras of Sun God. You can chant mantras like Gayatri Mantra or 'Om Adityaya Namah'. Chanting at least 108 times is considered extremely auspicious.
6. Reciting Aditya Hridya Stotra is considered the best way to get the blessings of Sun God. This stotra was recited by Lord Rama to conquer Ravana.
7. On this day, donate to the poor and needy according to your capacity. Donating red clothes, wheat, jaggery, copper or red lentils is considered auspicious.
8. At the end of the puja, with folded hands, pray to the Sun God to remove the troubles from your life and provide happiness and prosperity.
