New Delhi: India’s women boxers delivered a commanding performance at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, finishing at the top of the medal standings with 10 medals, including four gold, two silver, and four bronze.
In a remarkable achievement, every member of the women’s team secured a podium finish, highlighting India’s growing dominance in the sport.
Leading the medal rush, Minakshi (48kg) clinched India’s first gold with a dominant 5-0 victory over Mongolia’s Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan.

Preeti (54kg) followed with an impressive win against Huang Hsiao-wen, a three-time world champion and Olympic medallist, sealing a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Priya (60kg) secured another gold with a 3-0 win over North Korea’s Won Un-gyong, while Arundhati (70kg) added the fourth gold with a 4:1 victory against Kazakhstan’s Bakyt Seidish.
India also picked up two silver medals, with Jaismine (57kg) finishing runner-up after a strong campaign. Alfiyan Pathan (80+kg) also secured silver following her final bout.
The remaining medals came in the form of bronze, taking India’s total tally to 10 in the women’s division alone.
In the men’s competition, Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) advanced to the final with a commanding 5:0 win over Jordan’s Huthaifa Eshish.
Sachin (60kg) also reached the final after defeating Thailand’s Sakda Ruamtham 4:1 in the semifinal. However, several Indian boxers bowed out in earlier rounds, including Akash, Lokesh, Narender, and Harsh Choudhary, who lost their respective bouts against strong opponents.

With a total of 16 medals confirmed across categories- the highest among participating nations- India has emerged as the standout performer at the championships.
Under head coach Santiago Nieva, the team’s consistent performance reflects improved depth and preparation at the international level. India will look to further strengthen its tally as the tournament concludes, with hopes pinned on additional gold medals in the men’s finals.
