Abu Dhabi: Bangladesh opened its Asia Cup 2025 campaign in style with a 7-wicket win over Hong Kong. This is the third T20I match of the tournament, played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. Bangladesh captain Liton Das playing a match-winning knock of 59 runs off 39 balls, aslo Tauheed Hridoy played well, he remained unbeaten on 35.

Hong Kong Scored 143 Runs

Hong Kong lost the toss and came for bat first. The team managed to score 143/7 in 20 overs. Nizakat Khan (42) and Yasim Murtaza (28) played the biggest innings for the team.

Bangladesh bowlers performed well and did not let Hong Kong score many runs. Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hussain took two wickets each, due to which Hong Kong remained behind for most of the innings.

Liton-Hridaya performance

Chasing the target, Bangladesh faced some difficulties early on, losing openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan early. However, Liton Das and Tauheed Hridaya held the innings together. Their 95-run partnership for the third wicket turned the match in Bangladesh's favour.

Liton performed brilliantly against Hong Kong on the field with caution and aggression. He played some good shots at the right time and completed his half-century in just 33 balls. Although he was out after scoring 59 runs, Bangladesh had already reached close to the target by then. On the other hand, due to the patient batting of Hriday, the team won with 14 balls to spare.

Rishad Hossain Performance

Among the bowlers, Rishad Hossain stood out. A rare leg-spinner from Nilphamari, a remote district in northern Bangladesh, Rishad's journey is unique. His rise is all the more significant because leg-spin is uncommon in the country only two specialist leg-spinners have represented Bangladesh before him.

His performance adds depth to the bowling attack and something different in a pace-laden lineup.
