IND vs WI 2nd Test: India takes 270-runs lead, enforces Follow-On against West Indies

India enforced the follow-on against West Indies after taking a commanding 270-run first-innings lead. West Indies were bowled out for 248 and fell 71 runs short of avoiding the follow-on target of 319.

New Delhi: The second Test match between India and West Indies is being played in Delhi. The fate of this match and the series could be decided today, as West Indies were all out for 248 in its first innings. The Indian team declared their innings at 518/5.

West Indies to follow on

India has forced West Indies to follow on. The Indian team has also decided to follow on, as India still needs to score 270 runs to win. Therefore, the result of this match and the series is likely to be decided today, as the Indian team will have to lose 10 wickets before reaching 270 runs to win the match by an innings margin.

India Will Win Second Test As Well

In the first Test match played in Ahmedabad, India defeated West Indies by an innings and 140 runs. Now, a similar crushing defeat is in store for Delhi.

Gill and Yashasvi Scored Century

Speaking of this match, Team India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 175 runs and captain Shubman Gill scored 129 runs for India.

In addition, Sai Sudarshan scored 87, Dhruv Jurel 44, and Nitish Kumar Reddy 43. KL Rahul also scored 38. For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican took three wickets, while captain Roston Chase took one. The West Indies bowlers appeared helpless against the Indian batsmen.

West Indies Failed to Score

Batting in the first innings, the West Indies failed to score even 200 runs. The wicket was good for batting, but the Caribbean batsmen were unable to score big. Several batsmen got good starts, but the Indian bowlers dominated. Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets, Ravindra Jadeja three, and Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah each took one wicket. For the West Indies, Alick Athanase scored 41 runs, while Shai Hope and Tejnarayan Chanderpaul scored 36 and 34 runs respectively.
