New Delhi: Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) President Samir Xaud has come under public scrutiny following media reports alleging that federation resources were used to fund travel and accommodation for women said to have personal ties to him. The claims have triggered debate in Brazil's football circles, though the CBF has firmly rejected all allegations.
According to reports, Xaud allegedly arranged travel and hotel accommodations using federation resources for individuals accompanying him during international football-related events.
One report claimed that a woman identified as a fitness entrepreneur travelled to New York ahead of the FIFA World Cup and stayed at a luxury hotel under a reservation linked to Xaud. Media outlets also published photographs that allegedly showed the two together in the city.
Additional reports suggested that another woman travelled to Qatar for a FIFA event in late 2025, with accommodation expenses reportedly covered through federation-linked arrangements.
The Brazilian Football Confederation has strongly denied the accusations. In a statement, the organisation said all expenditures incurred by the federation were connected exclusively to official institutional activities.
The governing body maintained that personal expenses of executives are paid privately and not through federation resources. It also emphasised its commitment to transparency, administrative responsibility and integrity.
Some media reports have indicated that hotel-related expenses linked to one of the allegations were later paid personally by Xaud after questions were raised by journalists. However, no official findings have been released regarding the matter.
The controversy comes at a time when Brazil's football administration remains under intense public attention during major international competitions. Reports suggest that the allegations temporarily affected Xaud's schedule during Brazil's preparations for international fixtures.
No formal charges have been announced, and the matter remains centred on media reports and public scrutiny. The CBF has reiterated its willingness to provide clarification if required, while discussions surrounding the allegations continue in Brazil's sporting and media landscape.
