New Delhi: Delhi Capitals maintained their winning momentum in IPL 2026, registering a convincing six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Chasing 163, DC reached 164/4 in 18.1 overs, sealing the match with 11 balls remaining.

Mumbai Indians post competitive total

After being put in to bat, Mumbai Indians managed 162/6 in their 20 overs, a total that looked competitive but ultimately fell short. Stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings with a composed 51 off 36 balls, while Rohit Sharma chipped in with 35 at the top.

Despite a steady start, Mumbai struggled to build sustained momentum through the middle overs. Contributions from Naman Dhir and others provided brief resistance, but Delhi’s disciplined bowling attack kept the scoring in check.

Captain Axar Patel led from the front with an economical spell of 1/22, while Mukesh Kumar (2/26) picked up crucial wickets. Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan also played their roles in restricting MI to a manageable total.

Rizvi, Nissanka steady the chase

Delhi Capitals did not have the smoothest of starts in their chase, losing early ground in the powerplay. However, Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi stitched together a crucial 66-run partnership to stabilise the innings.

Nissanka contributed a valuable 44, playing the supporting role as Rizvi began to find his rhythm. The duo ensured that the required rate never spiralled out of control, setting the platform for a strong finish.

Rizvi’s brilliance seals the deal

Impact substitute Sameer Rizvi once again proved his worth with a sensational knock of 90 off 51 balls. After a cautious start, he shifted gears effortlessly, taking on the Mumbai bowlers with a mix of calculated aggression and clean hitting.

Rizvi narrowly missed out on a deserved century but walked off to a standing ovation for his match-winning effort. He then shared an unbeaten 78-run partnership with David Miller (17*), who applied the finishing touch with a boundary.

With this win, Delhi Capitals have now secured two victories in two matches, while Mumbai Indians will need to reassess their bowling strategies after failing to defend a competitive total.
