Mumbai: The second semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is underway between India national cricket team and England national cricket team at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

England won the toss and opted to bowl first, putting India in to bat in what promises to be a thrilling knockout encounter. The winner of the match will move one step closer to lifting the T20 World Cup title.

India Happy to Bat First

Speaking at the toss, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said the team had no issues batting first and had originally planned to do so if they had won the toss.

He confirmed that India have gone with the same playing XI that featured in their previous match, indicating the team management’s confidence in the current lineup.

England Make One Change

England captain Harry Brook announced one change in the side. All-rounder Jamie Overton was included in the playing XI, replacing leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed. The move signals England’s attempt to strengthen their pace attack for the high-pressure semi-final contest.

Third Consecutive Semi-Final Meeting

Interestingly, this marks the third consecutive time that India and England have met in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. The two sides previously faced each other in the last-four stage of the 2022 and 2024 editions as well. The recurring clash has added another layer of excitement to the rivalry between the two teams.
