New Delhi: The ongoing dispute between India and Pakistan over the Asia Cup 2025 trophy appears to be moving towards resolution. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia stated that he met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the ongoing ICC Board meeting in Dubai, where both parties took steps towards a mutually agreed solution to the issue.

Saikia stated that the atmosphere of the discussion was positive and both boards expressed a desire to resolve the dispute soon.

Team India Has Not Yet Received Trophy

India, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup T20 final played in Dubai on September 28, 2025, to win the title. However, a major controversy erupted at the awards ceremony held after the final match.

When ACC (Asian Cricket Council) President Mohsin Naqvi arrived to hand over the trophy to the Indian team, the Indian players refused to accept it. Naqvi's anti-India stance was cited as the reason.

Since this controversy, the trophy has been kept at the ACC headquarters, and Naqvi had instructed that the trophy not be touched without his permission. He stated that the Indian team would have to accept it from him.

Important Meeting Held In Dubai

Although this issue was not included in the official agenda of the ICC Board meeting, ICC officials arranged a confidential meeting between the two parties. Devjit Saikia and Mohsin Naqvi were present along with two senior ICC officials.

Saikia said, "It's good that the dialogue process has begun. Both sides have adopted a positive attitude. We hope a resolution to this dispute will be found soon."

He further added, "The ice has now been broken. We will consider various options. We will strive to resolve this issue amicably."
