New Delhi: The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will be played from February 7 to March 8, 2026. As preparations intensify for the global tournament, the Indian cricket team faces a crucial challenge in the form of a five-match T20 International series against New Zealand.
This series is especially significant as it serves as India’s final major test before the World Cup, giving players an opportunity to fine-tune their form and combinations.

New Zealand recently defeated India 2–1 in the ODI series, making history by becoming the first team to beat India in an ODI series on Indian soil. The T20 series will allow India to assess its readiness and respond strongly after the ODI setback.
Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20 team has remained unbeaten in bilateral series so far. This impressive record adds intrigue to the upcoming contest. With the World Cup approaching, maintaining momentum and confidence will be crucial.

The India–New Zealand T20 series will be played from January 21 to January 31, with matches hosted across five Indian cities:
1st T20: Nagpur
2nd T20: Raipur
3rd T20: Guwahati
4th T20: Visakhapatnam
5th T20: Thiruvananthapuram
New Zealand has previously defeated India in a T20 series on Indian soil and will be eager to repeat that achievement in 2026.
India and New Zealand have played 25 T20 Internationals so far. India has won 14 matches, while New Zealand has claimed 10 victories, with one match ending without a result.
Since 2020, New Zealand has managed to beat India in only two T20 matches, highlighting India’s dominance in recent years. In India, the two teams have faced each other 11 times, with India winning seven matches and New Zealand four.
