New Delhi: The Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 21st. Eight teams will be divided into two groups and will compete in the semi-finals. Group 1 includes India, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the West Indies, while Group 2 includes Sri Lanka, Pakistan, England, and New Zealand. Ahead of this high-voltage stage, former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has surprised everyone with a bold claim.

India will not reach the semi-finals!

Mohammad Amir says that Team India will not be able to reach the semi-finals this time. He said during a TV show that, aside from the match against Pakistan, the Indian batting has failed to impress in other matches. According to Amir, teams like South Africa and the West Indies are in excellent form and have the potential to defeat any major team.

Group 1 becomes the 'Group of Death'

Group 1 of the Super 8 is considered to be very strong. India secured the top spot by winning all four matches in the group stage. South Africa and the West Indies also won their four matches each. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, has advanced with three wins and one no-result. In such a scenario, every match can prove crucial, and even a small mistake could lead to a team's elimination.

Team India's Full Schedule

India will face South Africa in Ahmedabad on February 22nd in the Super 8 round. This will be followed by a match against Zimbabwe in Chennai on February 26th. The third and final match will be played against the West Indies in Kolkata on March 1st. To secure a place in the semi-finals, India will need to win at least two matches.

Will the prediction come true?

India is the defending champion and host of the tournament, so it is considered a strong contender for the title. However, Aamir's prediction has sparked debate among cricket fans. It will be interesting to see whether Team India responds to the criticism with its on-field performance.
