New Delhi: The FIFA World Cup 2026 final between Argentina and Spain at the New York New Jersey Stadium has become the most expensive sporting event in history in terms of ticket prices. The blockbuster clash featuring Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal has triggered extraordinary demand among football fans worldwide.
According to reports, FIFA's dynamic pricing model has pushed the average price of premium pitch-side seats to around $32,970 (approximately ₹31.7 lakh).

The figure surpasses average ticket prices recorded for major events such as the NFL Super Bowl and the NBA Finals in the United States.
Ticket prices on resale platforms have climbed even higher. Standard Category 3 tickets start at around $8,000 (₹7.7 lakh), while Category 1 seats begin at approximately $11,700 (₹11.3 lakh).
Some resale listings have reached extraordinary levels, with Category 1 tickets priced at nearly $575,000 (₹5.53 crore) and premium front-row seats listed for about $595,000 (₹5.72 crore).
The highest-priced listing currently available is a set of Category 3 seats in Block 124, priced at $2.3 million (around ₹22.14 crore), making it the highest publicly listed ticket price for any sporting event.
The numbers mark a dramatic increase compared to the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar, where official ticket prices started at $750 and resale prices generally peaked around $4,000. FIFA's highest-priced official hospitality package for the Qatar final was capped at $5,850.
