Shreyas Iyer released from Sydney hospital; Will return to India when fit to fly

Shreyas sustained the injury while attempting to take a catch of Alex Carey last Saturday leading to ICU treatment. Iyer is now recovering in Sydney and will return to India when gets medical clearance to fly.

Sydney: Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from a Sydney hospital and is now recovering and will return to India when gets medical clearance.

Shreyas was admitted to the hospital after suffering a ruptured spleen and rib cage injury during a match against Australia in Sydney.

Shreyas sustained the injury while attempting to take a catch of Alex Carey last Saturday leading to ICU treatment. Iyer is now recovering in Sydney and will return to India when gets medical clearance to fly.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a medical bulletin on Shreyas Iyer after his injury in the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney. The batter sustained a “blunt injury to his abdomen” while fielding, resulting in internal bleeding. The BCCI on Saturday confirmed that the bleeding was immediately stopped following a minor procedure.
