New Delhi: Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav delivered a commanding performance in the T20 Mumbai League, guiding Triumph Knights MNE to their maiden win of the season.

Playing at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, he smashed an unbeaten 72 off just 36 deliveries, laced with 13 boundaries and a six, as his team successfully chased down 153. His innings came at a crucial time, helping his side recover momentum in a competitive league encounter against MSC Maratha Royals.

A Gesture That Won Hearts

Beyond the runs, what stood out was SKY’s sportsmanship. After being named Player of the Match for his explosive knock, Suryakumar chose to hand over the award to teammate Sylvester Dsouza, acknowledging the fast bowler’s match-defining spell.

Dsouza had earlier produced a sensational five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/21 in just 3.5 overs. His performance dismantled the Royals’ batting lineup and set up the win for Triumph Knights MNE.

The moment quickly circulated on social media, with fans praising the selfless act and leadership quality shown by the veteran batter.

Match Summary: Collapse After Promise

Batting first, MSC Maratha Royals were bowled out for 152 in 19.5 overs. Despite early setbacks, Chinmay Sutar and Maxwell Swaminathan rebuilt the innings with a solid partnership, but a late collapse saw them lose their final five wickets for just 15 runs.

Alongside Dsouza, Sagar Mishra also contributed with disciplined bowling figures of 2/30, tightening the grip on the opposition in the death overs.

Beyond the League Spotlight

The performance comes at a time when Suryakumar Yadav has been under scrutiny at the international level. He was recently left out of India’s T20I setup, with selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and new captain Shreyas Iyer opting for a refreshed squad ahead of upcoming series.

Despite the setback, SKY’s domestic form and leadership gesture have reinforced his value as both a match-winner and a respected team player.
